This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we use it, and your rights under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).
Who we are
[Your legal business name], trading as Sofario, is the data controller of your information. Contact: hello@sofario.co.uk or 020 7946 0000. Address: [your registered address]. ICO registration number: [your ICO number].
What we collect
- Order details: your name, delivery address, phone number, email address, and what you ordered.
- Messages: what you tell us by phone, WhatsApp, email or our contact form.
- Website use: your device, browser and pages viewed. Optional cookies are only used if you accept them. See our Cookie Policy.
You pay in cash on delivery, so we do not collect or hold your card details.
Why we use it, and our legal reasons
- To take, confirm, make and deliver your order, and handle returns: to perform our contract with you.
- To keep tax and accounting records: because the law requires it.
- To answer your questions, keep the website working and prevent fraud: for our legitimate interests.
- To send you marketing, and to use optional cookies: only with your consent. You can withdraw it at any time.
Who we share it with
- Sofa makers and delivery teams: your name, address, phone number and order, so they can make and deliver your sofa.
- Shopify: which runs our online shop and stores order details for us.
- WhatsApp (Meta): if you message us on WhatsApp, or we confirm your order that way.
- Advisers and authorities: our accountants, or others where the law requires it.
We do not sell your personal information.
Where it is stored
Some of our service providers, including Shopify and Meta, may process information outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on safeguards approved under UK law, such as adequacy regulations or standard contract clauses.
How long we keep it
We keep order records for 6 years, because of tax rules and possible claims. We keep marketing consent until you withdraw it. We keep other messages only as long as we need them to help you.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- give you a copy of your information
- correct it
- delete it
- limit how we use it, or stop using it
- send it to you or another company in a common format
- stop sending you marketing, at any time
Contact us to use any of these rights. It is free, and we will reply within one month.
Complaints
Please tell us first if you are unhappy, so we can try to put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
Children
Our shop is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information about children.
